Mike Clement

Founder and Managing Director

Mike is the founder and managing partner of Strait Insights. He started the firm in 2009—at the beginning of the financial crisis—to help global companies communicate effectively through mergers and acquisitions, reputation crises, and culture shifts. Before founding Strait Insights, Mike served as the chief of global communications for Bank of America, where he spent 28 years successfully merging and integrating companies. His background incorporates a unique blend of communications and human resources experiences, including leading retail HR efforts at Bank of America.

With over 40+ mergers and a multitude of high-profile global crises behind him, Mike has earned a reputation for seeing around corners, anticipating what is next, creating a calm path out of a crisis, and building organizational ownership of outcomes.

At Strait Insights, he has built a global client base supporting complex mergers, crisis response, crisis preparedness, and political and organizational change platforms. To each of these engagements, Mike brings strong promotional skills coupled with insights that help companies manage various risks in ever-more-complex stakeholder environments.

Mike is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and holds a master’s in Organization Development from Queens University. He has for many years served and previously chaired the board of Roof Above, a homeless to housing agency. For five years he worked in and served on the board of a non-profit hospital in Congo (DRC). Clement has two adult sons and enjoys politics as a necessary sport.
